Semana del 25 al 29 de abril 2016

Estimados padres de familia:

Durante esta semana los alumnos continuarán aprendiendo acerca de la comunidad étnica de Honduras. Aprenderán acerca de la función del sistema democrático. Conocerán acerca de las características de la población centroamericana. Aprenderán acerca de la guerra fría en América.

Segundo Grado
Los alumnos continuarán aprendiendo acerca de las características culturales de la comunidad étnica hondureña.








Tercer Grado
Los alumnos aprenderán acerca de la función del sistema democrático. Realizarán un drama representando como se ejerce el sufragio.








Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos conocerán acerca de las características y diversidad cultural de la población centroamericana.






Quinto Grado
Los alumnos aprenderán acerca de la guerra fría en América.

Grades 4-7 only:

KIDS ATHLETICS ACTIVITY – Our fourth, fifth and sixth graders will be participating in a Kids Athletics activity on Wednesday, April 27, from 8:00 to 11:30 a.m at the Palacio de los Deportes (UNAH). We will be working with Sunshine School and Honors Academy. The cost of this activity is L50 per student. Teachers who will be going on this fieldtrip: Ms. Karen, Ms. Amy, M. Nidia, Ms. Lihn, Ms. Marisela, Ms. Nora A., ms. Tiffany, Ms, Norma, Ms. Yery* and Ms. Carol. For the organization of the teams, we are asking students to wear specific colored t-shirts as follows:
Grade 4  - red t-shirt                           Grade 5   - blue t-shirt                        
Grade 6  - white t-shirt                       Grade 7   - yellow t-shirt

For Everyone:

EARLY DISMISSAL AND HOLIDAY – This Friday, April 29 is an early dismissal day for our students. We will be following P.M. schedule.  We want to remind parents that Monday, May 2 is a holiday. Classes resume on Tuesday, May 3.

RECYCLING CHALLENGE:  Students keep bringing in your recyclable materials (newspapers, magazines, notebooks, paper board boxes, cardboard, aluminum cans, and plastic bottles) for the recycling challenge given by Arca de Esperanzas.  Remember that juice and milk boxes and Pringles-type cans cannot be recycled due to being a pressed mixture of aluminum, plastic, and paper.   Thank you for continuing to support environmental awareness.  Class that meet their challenge of bringing 10 lbs per student will earn a cookie party!


SUMMER CAMPS AT DISCOVERY SCHOOL  - Just like last year, there will be two summer camps in the month of June. Discovery Zone 7 will be a fun, artistic and entertaining camp for children 3 to 9 years old. There will also be a reinforcement camp for reading, writing and French for students in grades K-2. Both camps will run from June 13 to July 1, with the same schedule (8:00 a.m. to 12:00). Transportation is available at a small additional cost. If you or a relative/friend is interested, more information can be given to you by Ms. Carolina or at the accounting offices in school.

Semana del 18 al 22 de abril 2016



Estimados padres de familia:

Durante esta semana los alumnos identificarán características  culturales de la comunidad étnica de Honduras. Aprenderán acerca de las diferentes autoridades municipales y departamentales. Conocerán acerca de la integración económica de Centro América. Aprenderán acerca de las reformas liberales en América.

Segundo Grado
Los alumnos identificarán algunas características culturales de los  departamentos y su población étnica.


Tercer Grado
Los alumnos aprenderán acerca de las autoridades municipales y departamentales.






Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos conocerán acerca de la integración económica de Centro América. Los alumnos elaborarán un proyecto de un mercado. Para esta actividad deberán traer algún grano básico como frijoles o arroz. También si tienen algún objeto o monedas centroamericanas serán de gran ayuda. La actividad se realizará el día jueves 21 de abril 2016 hora de la clase.








Quinto Grado
Los alumnos aprenderán acerca de las reformas liberales de América.

PICAMIEJO PRESENTATION – do not forget to send the L100 for the presentation this Wednesday, April 20 if you have not done so yet.  This is one of many activities that we have planned for La Semana Del Idioma Español. There will be a follow up literary discussion and extension project concerning this presentation.

GARAGE SALE – The DPTO is oirganizing a garage sle for next Saturday, April 23, from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 m. Tables are available for only L400. ECONOMICS BAKE SALES – the third graders will be conducting their integrated Math/Social Studies bake sales on April 21 and 28. They will really appreciate the support of fellow students as they conduct their economics activity.

Semana del 11 al 15 de abril 2016

Estimados padres de familia:

Durante esta semana los alumnos identificarán características  culturales de su departamento. Conocerán a algunos personajes destacados de Honduras. Aprenderán acerca de las diferentes organizaciones de su comunidad y país. También de algunos acontecimientos importantes después de la independencia de América como ser los conflictos entre repúblicas.

Segundo Grado
Los alumnos identificarán algunas características culturales de los departamentos y su población. Deben traer sus electrónicos para la clase del martes 12 de abril de 2016.





Tercer Grado
Los alumnos conocerán a algunos personajes destacados del país.






Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos aprenderán acerca de las diferentes organizaciones de su comunidad y país.







Quinto Grado
Los alumnos conocerán acerca de los acontecimientos históricos después de la independencia de América como ser los conflictos entre repúblicas.

PICAMIEJO PRESENTATION – We are inviting all our students in grades K-11 to the Picamiejo presentation that will take place at our school on Wednesday, April 20 at 9:00 a.m. The cost of this presentation is L100 per student, and this is one of many activities that we have planned for La Semana Del Idioma Español. There will be a follow up literary discussion and extension project concerning this presentation. Please bring the L100 to your Spanish teacher as soon as possible.

 BRICK4KIDZ -The new Module for this quarter begins today, Monday, April 4. It is an exciting 4-week adventure that deals with the Laws of Motion. There is still time to sign up! Stop by the conference room on the second floor of the administration building.


For Grades 9-12:

CAREER DAY: We will be having Career Day here in school on Wednesday, April 13, from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. We have invited several professionals from our Discovery School community as well from the outside, to come to share with our students their experience and thoughts about the career they chose to pursue. Grades 9th through 12th and all parents are invited to attend.

Estimados padres de familia:

Durante esta semana los alumnos identificarán cómo se organiza una sociedad. Conocerán acerca de los gobiernos militares y democráticos. Aprenderán acerca de los diferentes hechos históricos durante los procesos democráticos y autoritarios de Centroamérica. También de algunos acontecimientos importantes  después de la independencia de América.

Segundo Grado
Los alumnos identificarán cómo se organiza una sociedad y las actividades que realizan las personas en ella.






Tercer Grado
Los alumnos conocerán las características de un gobierno militar y uno democrático.





Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos identificarán los hechos históricos durante los procesos democráticos y autoritarios de Centroamérica.








Quinto Grado
Los alumnos conocerán acerca de los acontecimientos históricos después de la independencia de América.
