Semana del 28 de septiembre al 02 de octubre 2015

Estimados padres de familia:
Durante esta semana los alumnos enriquecerán su conocimiento, entenderán los conceptos ayer, hoy, mañana. También reconocerán y valorarán las necesidades sociales básicas. Identificarán las diferentes profesiones y oficios. Comprenderán y valorarán los derechos humanos.

Segundo grado
Los alumnos serán capaces de reconocer y distinguir  en sus pensamientos lo que recuerdan e inventan, lo que viven y lo que creen, en bienestar de su calidad de vida. A través de juegos y ejercicios comprenderán los conceptos ayer, hoy y mañana.



Tercer Grado
Los alumnos reconocerán y valorarán las necesidades sociales básicas, descubriendo la presencia o ausencia de ellas en la sociedad.



Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos describirán la importancia de cada profesión y oficio.




Quinto Grado

Los alumnos valorarán los beneficios y compromisos de la vida en sociedad poniendo en práctica los valores. Identificarán y comprenderán la importancia de los derechos humanos. 




DPTO ANNOUNCEMENTS -
A)    Movie Morning FunThe DPTO will be showing Hotel Transylvania 2 at Novacentro this Saturday, October 3 at 10:30 a.m. The movie will be shown in English! Tickets are very limited! They will be first sold during the General Assembly this Saturday, and the following week. The price of each ticket is Lps. 250 and includes entrance to the movie and your choice of combos of popcorn and drink, hot dog and drink, or nachos and drink. B)    UN Day Preparations- The DPTO has begun preparations for our school UN DAY celebration on Friday, October 30, from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. All school families are invited to participate and represent their country of origin. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT THIS FRIDAY, OCTOBER 2 – We want to remind our parents that this Friday is an early dismissal day (11:45 a.m.) for our students. We will be following A.M. Schedule.

CHRISTIMAS BAZAAR- LOOKING FOR VENDORS- Discovery’s Helping Hands Club, a community service club that benefits the children of the Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage will be having a Christmas Bazaar.  Interested vendors should email, Discovery_bazaar@outlook.com.

HELPING HANDS- COMMUNITY SERVICE CLUB- Sunday, October 4th will be out next visit to Nuestros Pequeños Hermanos orphanage.  The club is open to all Discovery families and Secondary students.  Secondary students should attend the meeting on Tuesday, September 29th at lunch in Mrs. Agurcia’s Room (Rm. 7).  Anyone else interested in joining us can email Mrs. Agurcia at cagurcia@discoveryschool.edu.hn.

CHANGES IN THE OCTOBER HOLIDAYS – We have received official word that a decree was issued in Congress changing the October holidays to October 7, 8, and 9. We will be complying and changing the holidays.
We understand that some families may have purchased tickets for trips at the end of October, and we will be as accommodating as possible in helping our students with missed work. If this is the case, please contact the teachers and/or area coordinator to make the arrangements for makeup work and content.

ADVANCED EXTERNAL REVIEW TEAM VISIT -- The school continues preparing for the AdvancED team visit October 18-22. The team has invited all parents for a meeting on Tuesday, October 20, from 2:15 to 3:15. The Early Childhood and Elementary parents will meet in the 2nd Floor Conference Room, and the Middle and High School Parents will meet in Community Information Center. Please mark your calendars/agendas if you are interested in coming and being a part of this accreditation process.

Semana del 21 al 25 de septiembre 2015

Estimados padres de familia:
Durante esta semana los alumnos enriquecerán su conocimiento, conocerán acerca de los sentimientos, el derecho a expresarse, a ser escuchados, la importancia de su historia personal y la toma de decisiones.

Segundo grado
Los alumnos serán capaces de contar y mostrar lo que sienten sobre sí mismos y sobre los demás, sobre las situaciones, sobre las dudas, sobre las sorpresas, sobre las opiniones, sobre los acontecimientos. Reconociendo la importancia de la comunicación como el cimiento para aprender a educar nuestras emociones.

Tercer Grado
Los alumnos conocerán y analizarán acerca del derecho a expresarse y a ser escuchados. Identificarán sus propios sentimientos y los de sus compañeros, manejando situaciones en donde se manifiesta lo posible, lo deseable y lo correcto.

Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos describirán la importancia de su historia de vida y la compararán con otras historias para descubrir las posibilidades y modificaciones a realizar.

Quinto Grado
Los alumnos reconocerán  la importancia de la decisión personal, la integridad personal y explicar el proceso de tomar decisiones. Cada decisión que hay que tomar, es una enseñanza que la vida pone en el camino y que va formando la madurez.



FALL GENERAL ASSEMBLY –Parents are invited to attend the Fall General Assembly this Saturday, September 26 at 9:00 a.m.  Child care will be available to those parents who need to bring their children. Your support is greatly appreciated.

Semana del 16 al 18 de septiembre 2015

Estimados padres de familia:


Durante esta semana los alumnos tendrán un repaso acerca de las costumbres y tradiciones de Honduras, sentido de pertenencia a su propia cultura, la importancia de la democracia como estilo de vida y forma de gobierno.



Segundo grado
Los alumnos comprenderán la importancia de su participación en la defensa y promoción de tradiciones y costumbres hondureñas.







Tercer Grado
Los alumnos  identificarán los diferentes grupos culturales.





Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos desarrollarán la capacidad para argumentar y practicar la democracia en la vida cotidiana.




Quinto Grado
Los alumnos valorarán y practicarán positivamente la democracia participativa como forma de Vida y Gobierno.

Semana del 04 al 11 de septiembre 2015

Estimados padres de familia:

Durante esta semana los alumnos enriquecerán su conocimiento, conocerán acerca del respeto a los símbolos patrios, a los distintos grupos sociales y étnicos. También reconocerán las diferencias, similitudes y complementariedad de género. Asimismo aprenderán acerca de la importancia de la Democracia participativa como forma de vida y gobierno.
Durante esta semana cada grado estará practicando su presentación para la celebración de Independencia. Que será el día viernes 11 de septiembre.
Quinto grado ha sido elegido para representar a los diferentes héroes nacionales y personajes ilustres que han dejado un legado en nuestra historia.

Segundo grado
Los alumnos conocerán acerca del respeto a los símbolos patrios.


Tercer Grado
Los alumnos reconocerán los distintos grupos sociales a los que ellos pertenecen. Desarrollarán el sentido de pertenencia a la propia cultura.


Cuarto Grado
Los alumnos reconocerán las diferencias, similitudes y complementariedad de género, sin discriminación étnica, localización, edad y clase social a la que pertenecen.


Quinto Grado

Los alumnos identificarán la democracia participativa como estilo de vida y forma de gobierno. 


DESAYUNO TIPICO – We ask our parents to collaborate with our teachers in the organization of each classroom’s Desayuno Tipico for Friday, September 11. This will take place during first period (8:00-8:50 a.m.).
